From Overslept:
How come Q doesn't have Loads of hair/fur?
Originally Q was extremely hairy, but because of extensive plastic surgeries to make him more human and various medications (As well as some laser hair removal treatments) he now has very little hair, and what he does have grows extremely slowly. This includes his tail and the hair on his head.

What's Q's actual species? Is he a werewolf? Can he transform??
I guess Q would be what one considered a werewolf, but no. He cannot transform.
When he was first born he could've transformed into a sort of wolf-like anthro, but due to the surgeries and the plethora of medications he can no longer do this. Q never remembers being able to transform. The phases of the moon have no physical impact on him, though he does tend to get pretty introspective when the moon is full.

Why is Q's hair grey? Why is his tail a different color from his hair?
The hair on Q's head went prematurely grey due to stress and medication. His tail's color is his natural hair color, which is actually a very dark brown, almost black. The tail was beginning to go grey when Q left his father, but once the medications were stopped and Q left france, that was no longer the case.

Does Q always wear the same outfit? Do his particular articles of clothing hold another meaning?
Q does not always wear the same outfit, I just have him drawn in the same outfit to match my avatar. He wears red and black as they are the "dangerous" colors in nature. He doesn't want people to approach him. He would wear yellow too, but he cannot see yellow (It turns white for him).
If the situation calls for it, Q has various clothes of earth colors to blend in with his surroundings. He also has some nice tuxedos, but usually he wears a combination of red and black.

What are Q's favorite colors? Can Q even see colors?
Q's favorite colors are silver and green. He can only see a very limited color spectrum. During the day he can only see hard whites and blacks. In places with limited light he can see more, but mostly dark colors.
Everything is very desaturated, so around green everything sort of turns into light greys.

What's the deal with the collar and DJ headphones?
The DJs were because I love DJs and will forever be questing them, and got a lot of my avatar art before I perfected the true Q character. The DJ Headphones were dropped from the true version of Q, which is why I don't want them drawn on his avatar any more.
The dog collar is also dropped from true version of Q, although I still get it drawn with the necklace because I like how it looks. If artists leave out the collar that's fine. I've already started telling people it's optional.

The DJs and the collar are rather huge plot devices in the fantasm universe, though. Q has very sensitive hearing and will get headaches, so he'll listen to music to drown out the real world. In fantasm it's never really explained how sensitive Q's hearing is, but it's much more sensitive than the true version of Q. Music helps Q collect himself in fantasm. The collar is both a source of irony since he's part dog, but also a limiter so he can't use his powers, as fantasm is a fantasy-based universe.

What was Q's childhood like? How was he raised?
Q grew up in military academies since birth, which are boarding schools. So it involved a lot of order, discipline, exercise, and education.
His father is a former strategist turned dean of the secondary institution(grades 6 - 12). So while Q wasn't technically living with or being raised by his father, they did see eachother a lot.

You mention that he stereotypes people, within his stereotypes who does he find distasteful or favorable; what kind of people does he prefer?
Q judges people based on their posture and body language. While he does have good hearing his sight is much better, and most of his time is spent looking through a scope toward a distance that is too hard to hear what people are saying.
He also judges people based on what business they're in. He's somewhat of a hypocrite because he dislikes shady people. Q probably dislikes most people. He only likes those he can talk to whom he deems are at an intelligence level equal to his own, or people who he can be with and forget about everything else (Which is the case with Meru).

It doesn't matter who he likes or dislikes though- he needs to find people he knows will have contracts for him, and because of this he needs to shove his judgments aside for at least long enough to get along with the guy paying him.
Stereotyping people is something he does to pass the time while looking for the best shot or while doing surveillance. He'll make up backstories for people and guess who they are, where they came from, etc.

Why does Q consider himself a failure? Because of his Father? What has he failed at?
He doesn't necessarily believe he's a failure so much as inferior. He's not completely human. He feels he is lesser than other humans because dogs are people's servants and pets. He is also not comfortable in his own skin since he knows his body is not his own; it was artificially made. He ran away from his father and he started a sniping business... But he's the laughing stock of the industry. What sort of person sets a price maximum on hits? He severely limits himself and feels he is not as good as he could be.
He is also not straight and his father's way defines a man by how many women he can get wet.
His father has a lot to do with it, but it's not the entire cause.

How many women has Q been with? ;D
A lot. But not normal women. Only prostitutes. He did have sex with one or two normal women but Q has regressed since he left his father, giving him less control over his more bestial behaviors, leaving him extremely vocal during sex. He's insecure about this, as in his first two experiences the women laughed at him or stopped being "in the mood" quickly. While Q knows it's fake, he'd rather have sex with someone he knows isn't going to make fun of him while he does his thing.

Q's an illegal immigrant, but where? Where is he staying illegally? Or does he not have a citizenship anywhere and how did he accomplish that?
Q is a legal citizen on Mauritius, where he was born, and France, where he lived. He's an illegal immigrant wherever he traveled to from France, which depends on which story/universe we're in. But mostly the place he is staying illegally is based on the USA.

As a dog, why does he have cat's eyes? (in essence, why are his eyes so sensitive to light/why is he nocturnal)
Having such photo-sensitivity was more a trait from Hellhounds, which made sense. But as I keep working out Q, it's becoming more and more evident that there may have been something going on behind Q's dad's back in the lab.

So in effect, that's just a clever way of saying "I haven't really figured this out yet."

What brand does Q smoke and why? Has Q ever tried any drugs / uses any drugs? What and how did it turn out?
Q has never tried any drugs. Growing up the way he did, he was very secluded, thus making him ignorant of a lot of things. Including drugs. Plus, trying to do drugs while on so many different medications would've been a suicidal choice. He didn't even smoke while he was in France.
Q ran away from home when he was 18, hopped on a cargo ship and ended up in (essentially) the US. He left with another character named Vespasien (Ves for short), who is another original character of mine. Q has chronic low blood pressure. So if he gets too active or bleeds too much, he'll pass out. He had actual meds for this in France, but when he left he began to self-medicate through smoking, as that constricts the veins.

In fantasm, Q smokes kreteks(clove cigarettes) and his brand of choice is never mentioned but was based of Djarum blacks, a brand I also enjoy. He smokes in this universe simply to quell the noise inside of his head.
True Q smokes a variety of brands- he doesn't like the taste of any of them, and ironically treats smoking as more of a chore. He doesn't like doing it and constantly buys all different brands. However, the first brand he ever tried was Benson & Hedges.

What is "the supernatural" which he finds so far fetched, considering his own state of being and cause?
Q does not believe in the supernatural because if he recognized that such things existed, he would also have to deal with the idea that he was not human. And that's something he doesn't want to deal with. It's a denial issue.

He's a self started sniper? How did he manage that? Usually you either have to know a lot of people or work blindly for someone.
In the military academy Q learned the basics of all weapons, including the sniper rifle. He learned a good deal of psychology too as his father wanted him to be a strategist and that was a part of his studies...
When Q first came from France he worked for Ves(another character of mine) as his second-hand man and sniper.
Ves eventually ruled a city of his own and when they broke up, that was when Q started the whole low budget crap, mostly trying to hide away from Ves and also make less work for him, since working with Ves was very taxing on Q's health.

Q works blindly with people and he makes a lot of mistakes on who can be trusted and who can't, in terms of whether they follow his maximum worth for kills (Q won't kill anything worth over 100k). Mistakes happen frequently and this is the source of lots of trouble and part of the reason he doesn't have a very good outlook on his life. He doesn't know how else to make a living, though, as he certainly doesn't want to run back to Ves. They broke up on bad terms- Q felt betrayed.

Okay, what's the deal with this Vespasien character? What's his connection to Q?
Ves is another original character of mine, and he's not someone I'm too interested in getting art of, which is why I don't really bring him up anywhere.
Regardless, Ves is older than Q is, and they met while Q was still in France. Ves helped convince Q to run away from his dad, and they left France together. Ves was, essentially, Q's first lover. Ves is the reason why Q got the scar on his face.

Ves wanted to rule a city and become, essentially, a mob boss. He was more of the strategist and Q worked beneath him, killing those who needed to be killed to help Ves achieve his goals until the man finally conquered the city. Ves was a positive influence on Q in the beginning, boosted Q's self esteem and envied Q for his abilities, especially his eye sight, and cajoled Q to try and accept himself. Ves was also a driving force, trying to tell Q to let loose and be himself, be proud of who he was. So in adolescent pride of Q's "heritage," one could say he decided he wanted the tattoos and Ves eagerly agreed.

The more time Q spent away from his father and the onslaught of meds for the process of permanently making him less animal and more human, the more Q regressed- his qualities mixing. His eyesight became worse in daytime, his low blood pressure more of a hassle to deal with over time... The regression really didn't reach a peak until Ves had accomplished his goal of taking over the city and had lost interest in Q.
This is more in Ves' character history and not Q's, but basically Ves thought his public image would be much stronger if he wasn't openly gay. Because of this, Ves pushed Q to the curb, physically and romantically, although continued to rely on him as his right hand man. Q didn't like that it had gone to all business; he loved Ves after all. And in a sort of fit of anger and feeling rejected he left Ves, going onto another city and trying to forget about him. And that is, essentially, the big fat summary of Ves and Q.

Blades of any kind: How's Q feel about 'em? Any he's comfortable/proficient with?
Q carries with him one handgun(glock) and one knife(SOG Pentagon) for safety reasons. He prefers guns. He was trained in knives but as that training was ten or more years a go he is definitely not proficient with them.

Theoretically you could give Q any weapon and he'd be better with it than someone off the street, but as I said, Q prefers guns. Of course, if he had to use a sword it'd be a rapier... Fencing would've been taught in the academies as a recreational activity. And he is French, afterall.

In fantasm, Q prefers guns but he's also well trained with swords. He can wield any kind, although he never does so in the story. In Fantasm, he sticks with mostly two-handed weapons. He stays away from rapiers since that's what Edmond uses, and there is no way Q could ever be better at fencing than Edmond.

From Druki:
Aren't there too many fetishist bars? Isn't it weird to have more than one?
Q travels from city to city. Usually he'll stay in one place for maybe 1 - 3 months, then move on. That's why there are different cities and different clubs and things. I am really horrible at coming up with names for things... So cities either aren't named or have really crappy names.
